Algae event 2015 is a parallel event jointly organised by EUBCE 2015, EnAlgae project and RE-CORD.

The Executive Committee selected this event to be included in the official programme of the 23rd EUBCE that will take place at the Messe Wien, Exhibition & Congress Center, Vienna, Austria in June 2015.

Vienna is the world’s number one most livable city for the fifth time in a row (following the Mercer Study 2013). More than half of the metropolitan area is made up of green spaces. 280 imperial parks and gardens enrich the cityscape. The nearby recreation areas of Prater, Vienna Woods and Lobau invite visitors to go on walks, day trips, hikes and bicycle tours. Vienna has a total of 2,000 parks.

Everyone's talking about Urban Gardening. The city of Vienna is one of the largest organic farmers in Austria. Over 860 hectares of organic growing land are cultivated on three city farms. The City Farm Schönbrunn really gets you in the mood for gardening. Vienna is also the home to more than 5,300 different bee populations, which are tended to by a total of some 600 beekeepers.Vienna’s power plants not only provide clean energy, but are also a part of the city’s skyline, with their artistic and innovative design: A popular photographic motif in Vienna is the Spittelau waste incineration plant, whose façade was redesigned and given its present colorful, irregular structures by eco-architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser following a major fire in 1989. Since then, the former utility building has combined the topics of waste, energy and art in a fascinating way. On a tour of the plant, visitors get an insight into Vienna's waste, recycling and disposal system, as well as the environmentally friendly generation of thermal heat and hot water. For tourist information please check:
